My great grandfather Rev William Fielder was born in Northiam, Sussex, England on October 13, 1852. He died in 1936 in Alabama. His father was Isaac Fielder and Susan Cockett of England. He stated that his mother died in the village Beckley, England when he was about two (about 1854) and that he went to live with his maternal grandparents which I believe would be the Cockett's. I'm also looking for any information any of these people. Other than the names of Isaac and Susan, I know basically nothing about any of them. I believe William Fielder had at least one sister, Kate Fielder Marchant and at his death there's an indication that she still lived in Sussex, England.
He also said that when he was 20(about 1872) he moved to Rye and lived with his uncle who carried on a business that is termed a "confectioner". His first job as a circuit missionary was on the Milton Mobray circuit in Liecestershire in about 1874-1876.
Any help any one can give me in obtaining any information on how or where to locate any information on these family members would be appreciated.
He also stated that he had an aunt and uncle who owned a farm on the site of the Hastings Battle field. Does anyone have any information on the Hastings Battle?
