I heard a rumor that someone in my family tree was hung during the Witch Trials in Salem, MA. My mothers Mitchell line goes back to Choates and through the Choate line we are related to John Prcotor and his wife Elizabeth Basset Proctor who were hung on August 19, 1692 the same day the folowing were hung:
