I Have Thomas' Bible. He married Susanna Townsend. She died on 9-9-1748 at age 46 and is buried at Cobb Hill. Thomas then married a Martha, who died 7-22-1781, age 81. Thomas and Susanna had:
Thomas born 11-2-1725, he died 11 days after.
James born 11-2-1725, he died 4 months, 18 days
Joshua born 1-18-1727. Died 1819
Thomas, born 3-1-1729. Died abroad.
Susanna born 12-20-1730, died 1812.
Alice born 12-2-1732. died 5 weeks old.
Benjamin born 1-1-1734. died 3 days old.
Caleb born 1-20-1735 died 19 years old.
Mary 11-4-1736 died 1804
Dorothy born 12-22-1738
Nathaniel born 9-3-1740 died 20 months old.
Alice born 2-16-1745.

it then says that Thomas came to this country in 1711 with his father, an officer in the British forces. The night before the fleet sailed for Canada, he was left in Boston with Mr. Withrige, a shipwright, as an apprentice.The expedition failing, his father was one of the sufferers. He served his time, went to sea a few years then set up his trade followed it near 60 years and died with a very respectable character. He was born May 3, 1698 or 9.

I have more on the son Joshua. He married Elizabeth Paine on March 30, 1757. I have all their children and birth dates. I also have an address in Boston where a Thomas Bentley, born 4-14-1821 to Samuel Bentley and Rebecca Fowle lived. Samuel Bentley was the son of Joshua and Elizabeth Paine.
