Question: I am an adoptee, as was my biological mother (now passed). Am I legally permitted to request her post-adoption information, in order to track my genealogy?

I have started completing some forms for myself - I have non-identifying and would now like the post-adoption (whatever that is!), and it does not appear that my relationship to my biological mother would be enough to qualify to receive the docs.
