In another message thread, I posted information about a site which contains post adoption information and research sources about Canadian adoptions.
The site is called,..."Origins Canada" ( supporting those separated by adoption )"
http://boards.ancestry.com/topics.adoption.canada.general/23...*********************************************************************************************************
There is an article on that site which is titled..."Maternity Homes in Canada"
It's about the post WW2 and later maternity homes in Canada for unmarried mothers, and about Canadian attitudes, policies, and practices, in regard to unmarried mothers.
The article also includes a list of those homes, and their addresses and years of operation, and some of them went back to long before WW2.
http://www.originscanada.org/adoption-practices/adoption-rea...The article makes reference to, and partly quotes from, a 1998 book called...
"Gone to an Aunt's: Remembering Canada's Homes for Unwed Mothers" by Anne Petrie.
