Hi everyone,

I'm researching the John POPP family of Richland County, WI. The earliest census I found them in is the 1860 in Richland, and also found John POPP in the 1890 Veterans Schedule. It has always been rumored in our family that we had an ancestor that fought in the Civil War and was a prisioner.

Below is what I've found in the 1880 census for Sylvan, Richland Co., WI:

POPP, John age 47 b. Germany, parents b. Germany
----, Huldah wife 46 b. Ind, parents b. Ind (maiden name is BOOHER)
----, William son 17 b. Wisc
----, Jane ? daughter 14 b. Wisc
----, Barbara daughter 11 b. Wisc
----, Francis son 10 b. Wisc
----, Charles son 7 b. Wisc
----, Randolph son 3 b. Wisc
----, Celesta daughter 7/12 Sept b. Wisc

Also found John's daughter Bertha (POPP) McHONE, age 20 on page 11. Bertha is married to Henry McHONE, age 22. This is the line that I descend from.

If anyone can help me out with this family it would be greatly appreciated. Any information at all would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
