Hello.
A number of my Hogan ancestors lived in the Maitland area. Does anyone recognise the following names? Also, if anyone could tell me whether the following graves of individuals are still marked (and any possible transcription records), that would also be much appreciated since I don't live near Maitland.
My g/g grandfather, Patrick Hogan was born in 1846 in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. His parents were Thomas Hogan & Anne Hourigan. He died in August 1918 at 7 Cathcart St., West Maitland and was buried on 16 August 1918 at the R.C. Cemetery, Campbell's Hill.
My g/g grandmother, Bridget Hogan was born in 1854 in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Her parents were Jeremiah (Darby) Hogan & Ann Whalen. She died in April 1886 at Maitland Hospital and was buried on 7 April 1886 at the R.C. Cemetery, Campbell's Hill.
Patrick & Bridget were married in June 1878 at Grawn Church, Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Their children were: Anne (my g grandmother), b. 1879 in Co. Tipperary; Mary, b. 1880 in Co. Tipperary; Thomas, b. 1882 in West Maitland, d. 1921, West Maitland, bur. R.C. Cemetery, Campbell's Hill; Ellen, b. 1883 in West Maitland, d. 1964; Bridget, b. 1885, West Maitland, d. 1958.
Thomas (b. 1882) married Ellen Ramplin/Rampling in 1904 at West Maitland.
Ellen (b. 1883) married George Ryan in 1912 at West Maitland.
Bridget (b. 1885) married Michael Scanlon in 1905 at West Maitland.
A number of Patrick's (b. 1846) brothers also came to Australia from Ireland and settled in the Maitland area. They were:
(1) James (b. 1838, d. April 1888, Rutherford, bur. 27 April 1888, R.C. Cemetery, Campbell's Hill) married Bridget Garrigan/Kerrigan in 1865 and had the known following children: William, Julia, Mary and Timothy.
(2) Timothy (b. 1840, d. September 1898, Muswellbrook, bur. 15 September 1898, Muswellbrook Cemetery) married Catherine Cooper in 1875 and had the known following children: Thomas, James, Margaret, Mary and Francis.
(3) Michael (b. 1851, d. December 1909, Maitland, bur. 3 December 1909, R.C. Cemetery, Campbell's Hill).
I also believe that Patrick had an uncle called Daniel living in the Maitland area. Daniel may have been married to a lady called Ann and had children called Bridget and Mary.
Bridget (b. 1854) had a sister called Ellen who also lived in the Maitland area. I believe that she died around 1886 and was unmarried.
Hopefully someone will recognise these names. I would love to get in contact with any distant cousins.
