I am looking for any history on the Civil War Monument/Memorials located in the Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron.

There is a tall granite column with a limestone soldier on top which has a date of 1884 but I don't think that was the dedication date. Some refer to this as the Civil War Monument and others call it the Unknown Soldier Monument.

On a flag pole, just 50 feet away, a shield is atached bearing witness to the brave defenders of our nation.

I'd appreciate any information on these two memorials if anyone has anytthing.

Thank you.
