YOUNGSTOWN - Jennie Louise Brown, 86, of the city’s west side, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH.
Jennie was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a daughter of the late John and Margaret Fundziak Vrabec, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of The Rayen School.
Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, bowling, bingo, and playing yahtzee, and she loved spending time with her family.
Jennie leaves eight children, Cyndi L. Johnson of Youngstown, George K. Jr. (Mary) Brown of Pensacola, Fla., Denise E. (David) Sonntag of New Wilmington, Pa., Nanette T. (David) Burnett of Poland, Ohio, Kim M. Kulesza of Pensacola, Frank T. Brown of Youngstown, Terrence A. (Patty) Brown of Columbiana, and Marcie R. (Russ) Lowe-Thomas of Milton, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Rezendes of Struthers; and a son-in-law, Richard Tunison of Austintown. Her husband of 31 years, George K. Brown, whom she married June 5, 1948, passed away Oct. 22, 1979.
Two daughters, Barbara Ann Tunison and infant Anita Marie Brown; two brothers, Tommy and Frank Vrabec; and a sister, Mary Yaskulka, are also deceased.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, March 5, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave, Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
