I am trying to find some information about an ancestor who I have just discovered was in the Royal Artillery. I wonder if anyone could put me in the right direction where I can find more?
The details are quite sketchy though.

Name - Edward Chapman
Born - abt 1850
Married Elizabeth Muddiman in Portsea 19 June 1877
Accordng to his marriage certificate he was Bombardier RA and residence was Hilsea, Portsmouth.
His father was James Chapman (Gardener)
Elizabeth's father was John Muddiman (Rope Maker)
She was born in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire.
They both died in Perth, Australia (Edward 1910, Eliz 1934)

That's really all the information I have. Vague family stories have them going to Australia soon after marriage - but I cannot find any note of them travelling to Australia - can't find them on any passenger lists.

If someone could give me a clue as to where else to look I would be grateful.
