Seeking ancestors or family of Richard Barrett, b. 1813, d. 1868 in Southampton Co., VA. Information on his two marriages (to Murfee cousins of Southampton Co.) was submitted to the LDS by one Rufus Chester Allen, and Barrett deaths were entered in the Book of the Dead by Rufus Chester Allen's wife, Laura Chaffin Allen. In a round-about way, I have tracked the Allens to Frederick Co./ Hopewell, VA. I believe that these Barretts may have been Quakers because they did have ties to families in IN, OH and PA. They may have left VA and removed to SC c. 1750, then returned in a northern path to Ohio, PA and "one brother returned to VA." Can anyone tell me if there is a repository for Quaker Records in Hopewell or Frederick Co.? Does anyone recognize a tie among any of the referenced lines above? It is known that a George Allen m. a Barrett in or around Frederick Co., VA, and I believe this man was related to Rufus Chester Allen, who died c. 1900. There are several Richard Barretts in Hopewell Meeting Minutes. Can anyone help tie me to an earlier generation, or recognize any of the referenced names? Your help appreciated.
