Serendipity: There is a charming picture of the William Johnstone Family taken circa 1894 appearing on pg. 184 of the Mar-April 1989 issue of "The Genealogical Helper" magazine.

William Johnstone was born in Scotland 02 March 1838. He died in Sangamon Co. IL 14 July 1915. He married 18 Jan 1864 in Sangamon Co. His wife, Louisa Marshall, was born in Ross Co. OH 23 May 1848 and died in Sangamon Co. IL 30 April 1925. The photo was taken near Riverton, IL circa 1894; the home was still standing and occupied in 1989. The photo was submitted by Mr. G. W. Marshall, Cincinnati, OH, whose great-great aunt was Louisa Marshall.

Individuals in the photo are identified: John W., James, David, Mary, Maggie, and Lydia. William Johnstone and Louisa (Marshall) Johnstone. William Jr. and Sadie. Clara Evans Johnstone, wife of John W. Johnstone.

Two of the men are holding musical instruments, ?fiddles?
