I received my DNA results and they were so off compared to what we thought about our family that my mother decided to do hers as well.
Great Britain............47
Iberian Peninsula....19
Native American.....11
Europe West...........10
Trace: Caucasus, North Africa, Italy/Greece, European Jewish, Central Asia
I've traced many family branches to Wales, England and Spain. I have two French surnames in my family and rumors of a German great-grandfather, but I can't find a single person from that region, so the 10% is confusing.
What is the most perplexing is the large amount of Native American blood! I have a great-great grandfather whose trail disappears, and a great-grandfather whose trail also vanishes, but if both of those men were full-blooded Natives I doubt that would give me such high numbers.
On my dad's side there are lots of rumors of Creek and Cherokee family, but we have yet to find any paper trail on any of them. It could be they went into hiding so they wouldn't have to walk the Trail of Tears, but I just can't find anyone.
Any thoughts?
