Need data/source on the shooting death of Gilford/Lonnie Gilford "L.G." JONES; b-Oct. 1879 (1880 Cen.) son of Wm. C. JONES & Catherine P. WILLIAMS of Cottonwood, Henry Co.,AL. Lonnie GILFORD was shot & killed by Sheriff Oscar Whitehead, in the barn on the Wm. C. JONES' farm in Cottonwood,Henry Co.,AL. while being sought, ca 1890's-1900's. He died young,in his teens or twenties. Can't find death/burial recs. When was Sheriff Oscar Whitehead in office(yrs?)? Any Newspaper articles? Found marr. rec for "L.G." JONES & Nancy JORDAN, 1904 Henry Co. / Houston Co.,AL. Any JORDAN fam. recs on "L.G." JONES??? All help gratefully accepted. This was my Grandmother Lula Avis JONES BROWN's youngest brother, whom she loved very much, and she was traumatised by his death, but refused to talk about the incident / scandal.
