My son recently had a new daughter and I am wanting to do a family tree for her. His father, deceased 1998, was Nathanial Cartrette and his father, also deceased, was Joe Brown Cartrette. Both were in GA. My husband was born in Mt. Vernon, GA. I do not know where his father was born. My husband had said the family came from Tabor City, NC but I do not remember the name of the Cartrette that moved away. There was something about trouble with the law and he left. My ex-brother-in-law spells his name Cartrett because he said that is the way some of the older ones spelled it. Any info to help me get started would be deeply appreciated.
