It occurred to me that a missing person would probably have been reported as a missing person in the 1920's, and wouldn't there be a police report?
My great grandmother- Elizabeth Johnson Storie supposedly disappeared sometime between 1920 and 1930 from Watertown, NY. No one in the family including her 5 children ever knew what happened. I say if she all of a sudden went missing, someone must have called the police. This is just one theory about her that I have.
My question is how would I go about finding police reports from that time period? If I called the police station in that city would they have records going back that far, and would they tell me? Would it be online somewhere? I would have thought it would have been reported on in the papers, but am coming up with nothing when I search old papers.
Any help would be appreciated!
