I am looking into some facts my cousin has heard about the Hickey side of our family.

Simon Hickey was born in April 1843 in Co. Cork, Ireland and died around 1906.
He married Anne Dwyer born around 1860 Co. Cork, Ireland and died circa 1900.

They had three children:
Anna born around 1882
Thomas J. born around 1880 and died circa 1919
Mary "Beeba" born in June 1878 and died circa 1970 in NYS. She married Henry T. Carroll born in 1874 in NYS.

My cousin mentioned that about 15 years ago, she spoke to two ladies on here that told her the Hickey's were from a gypsy clan in Ireland. One of these ladies was connected to a Harry Hickey who was a Confederate in the Civil War and was imprisoned in a Union Prison Camp near Troy, NY. Harry had a daughter and a son named James.

Simon Hickey was a silky driver in Saratoga Springs, NY which is close to Troy, NY but I am unsure if he and Harry are related.

If anyone knows anything about these connections and the Hickey name in terms of being "Irish Gyspy" I would love to learn more!
