Henry Spaar died at his late home here at about two o'clock this Friday morning, May 6, 1910, at the age of 72 years, death being caused by heart trouble, and following an illness of about a week. He was taken suddenly ill on Saturday evening last, while sitting on the porch of his home. Mr. Spaar was always a happy and active man up to the time of his recent illness and was liked by all who knew him.
Henry Spaar was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, on September 8, 1837, and came to America when a young man of nineteen, settling with his parents in Granville, LaSalle county, Illinois. When the civil war broke out in 1861 he enlisted in the eleventh Illinois Infantry as sergeant and served until September 16, 1864.
He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Giese at Granville on January 13, 1865. From here Mr. and Mrs. Spaar moved to Buckley and two years ago came to Chatsworth to reside. He was a member of the Evangelical church of this city.
He is survived by his grief stricken wife and one daughter, Elizabeth, at home; two sons, Henry, of Mexico, Missouri, and John, of Sweethome, Oregon; one brother in Germany and one sister, Mrs. K. Boone.
The funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church on Sunday afternoon, May 8, at one-thirty o'clock, conducted by Rev. M. Gronewald and interment will take place in the Chatsworth cemetery.
