Lowell L. Somerlot, 87, Wabash, Indiana died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Wabash Skilled CareCenter.

He was born Jan. 10, 1919, on his grandfather's farm on Somerlot Road in Pleasant Township, Marion County, Ohio, to Carl Erastus and Hazel Irene (Garrett) Somerlot.
He married Wanda Louise Easterday on May 3, 1953, at the Asbury United Methodist church in Delaware, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1983.

Mr. Somerlot is survived by a daughter, Janet Elaine Somerlot, Wabash, IN.; a son, James Edward Somerlot, North Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Regina Ann (Haynes) Somerlot, Wabash; four grandchildren, Daniel Lynn Somerlot, Wabash; Philip Lowell Somerlot, Wabash, Jonathan Walter Somerlot, North Manchester, and Emily Michelle Somerlot, Wabash; a sister, Evelyn (Harold) Baker, Richwood, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Otis, Alvin, Paul and Raymond Somerlot, and two sisters, Iva Fetter and Irene Augenstein.

Mr. Somerlot enjoyed farming. He began farming when implements were pulled behind a team of horses. He worked his parent's farm for several years.

He also worked at Central Soya, Marion, Ohio, for 29 years, retiring in 1984.
He graduated in 1937 from Pleasant High School in Pleasant Township, Marion County, Ohio. Mr. Somerlot was an Army Air Corps aircraft maintenance technician during World War II, serving in Brazil and Florida.
He enjoyed reading and word searches.

In later years his hobby became grocery shopping. Mr. Somerlot lived in Wabash since 1991, coming from Richwood, Ohio.

Wabash funeral services were held Monday evening at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash Chapel. The Rev. Edward Miller officiated.

Ohio funeral services will be held at Ballinger Funeral Home, 23 E. Ottawa St., Richwood, Ohio, on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Edward Miller will officiate.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the Claibourne Cemetery, Union County, Ohio.
