Looking for information about Harvey L. Bolin, b. 1873/4 in TN, probably near Moore Co. He married there and had two children, but in 1900 he killed Charlie Walter White in Moore Co. TN, abandoned his family, and "disappeared."
Old Timers have told us that he hid out at his father's house near Lynchburg, TN, and then together they walked to Alabama.
Just last week I found a newspaper article from the Huntsville Weekly Mercury that confirmed the presence of Harvey's father (unnamed) near Lynchburg AND stated that Harvey had been a former resident of Madison County, north of Huntsville, near the county line (didn't say which county line).
Did he have other relatives in Huntsville? Did he return to Huntsville/Madison County after the murder? Does anyone know what happened to Harvey, or who his father was?
TN Old Timers told us it was William Bolin, but we haven't found any definite information to link William Bolin to Harvey. I found a William Bolin b. 1856 died 1931 in a Madison County Cemetery Book. This very possibly is the William Bolin referred to by the old timers.
Does any of this ring a bell for anyone? It's a mystery we haven't been able to solve. Who was Harvey's father? What happened to Harvey after he left TN (he was "never heard from again")?
He may have changed his name (first, last, or both), since he was "on the run". Some newspapers show his name as Hardy or Henry, although we know for certain that it was actually Harvey.
ANY help appreciated!!!!
Linda B.
