I am trying to sort through some confusion over my ancestor James B. Blackburn born 1745 in Augusta County, VA and married Jane Rankin b. 1750. James served as a private in Cpt. Charles Flemings Company 7th Virginia Regiment from 1777 to 1778.

Several sources have James B. Blackburn the son of Edward Blackburn and either Ann Margaret Harrison b. 1736 or Mildren Christy b. 1730; or Samuel Blackburn b. 1715 and Eleanor Province; or John Blackburn and Ann Logan.
