The Spring Meeting of the Jackson County Historical Society will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Parish House, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newport. Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend.

A program about Jackson County and the Civil War will be presented by Dr. Michael Dougan, retired history professor from ASU.

We will also detail upcoming plans to commemorate such important events as the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and the Jackson Guards, the 100th birthday of Lady Elizabeth Luker, and the 50th anniversary of the Jackson County Historical Society.
