My grandfather was Charles Edward Parkin (1931-1990) born in Rotherham, who married my grandmother Kathleen Smith (1939-) born in Rotherham. Charles Edward's (known as Ned to his family) family has remained very much a mystery to us, as according to my mother, he never spoke of his mother or family beyond that point.

I know that Charles Edward had a father named Charles Henry Parkin (1893-1979), and Charles Henry married a woman by the name of Elsie Cook(e) (we believe). Charles Edward had siblings called Eric, Dorothy, Dennis and Constance. Charles Henry married Elsie Cook in July 1917 we think, according to the England and Wales Marriage Index 1916-2005.

Does anyone know anything about Charles Henry Parkin (Charles Edward's father) and his family? Or anything about his wife Elsie Cook(e) (who we think had a brother called Fred)?
I have been told that Charles Henry's family came from Rotherham, and I have found a census which may be him from Parkgate in Rotherham, but I have no way of proving whether this is correct or not. Does anyone know anything about this family that may help me find out more about my grandfather and great parents?
