CALLED BY DEATH
Life-Long Resident of City
Ill Six Days
Survived by Six Children and One
Brother - Funeral to Be Friday
Afternoon in Home.
Mrs. Martha E. Hillier, age 76, of 1102 Blaine avenue, a life-long resident of South Bend, died this morning at 9:30 o'clock in her home after a six days' illness. Mrs. Hillier was the widow of Samuel A. Hillier and was well known in this city.
She was born Jan. 9, 1851, in South Bend. Her marriage to Mr. Hillier took place Feb. 8, 1872, in this city. Surviving her are three daughters, Miss Ada A. Hillier, who is supervisor of household arts in the South Bend public schools; Mrs. Carl W. Ginz and Mrs. Hiram C. Kreighbaum, all of this city; three sons, Samuel D. Hillier, Mishawaka; Forest Hillier, Los Angeles, Calif., and Glen Hillier, Long Beach, Calif., and one brother, Sidney S. Elder, Port Orchard, Wash.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the residence, Rev. Albert E. Monger, D. D., of the First Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
