My Great-Grandfather Wallace Arthur Beardsell was believed to have played professional rugby in Huddersfield, England approximately in the 1880's. Family lore is that he was quite good and that the loss of his leg some years later was attributable to the many leg injuries he suffered while involved in the sport.

I have googled, located and attempted twice to contact the Huddersfield Football Club, Huddersfield England, with no luck - phone calls and letter inquiry not answered. I am wondering IF (assuming the family stories are accurate), there is someway of obtaining an archival material on my Great-Grandfather and his rugby history? I had been hoping that the Huddersfield Football club might be able to answer that question and provide information on who to contact or at least where to begin my search for such material, but, to date I have not had any response.

I am at a loss as to how to proceed; any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
