Hi. I am very new at this. My maiden name is Gaskin, and I am trying to trace my father's ancestry back as far as I can. I don't know much about our line but this much I can tell you. My dad's name is Jesse Lee Gaskin, Jr. He has a brother, Gerald, and two sisters, Vivian Ruth and Ann. His father, Jesse L. Gaskin, Sr. married Ruth Jordan sometime (I'm guessing) in the early 1930s. When my dad and his siblings were growing up, their parents split up and they were placed in the Carolina Children's Home in Columbia, SC until their mom could get them back. My dad enlisted in the Air Force from the orphanage, and so did my uncle Jerry. My dad was born in Bishopville, SC and I believe we may have relatives in the Bishopville and Camden areas of the state....but beyond that, I have no idea. My dad married Bobbie Jean Miller of New Paris, Pa., in 1957. My dad's knowledge of his family tree is sketchy at best since he and his siblings spent awhile in the orphange and had no one to ask.

If you recognize any of the names and can show a connection, I would love to talk to you! My mom's family has done exhaustive genealogical research on their family trees, but I haven't seen or heard anything about my dad's, and would love to know more.

Thanks,
Kathy Jean (Gaskin) Griner
