HEACOCK, ROBERT JULIEN Age 82 of Mountain Brook, AL passed peacefully on March 19, 2013.
Bob was born on February 26, 1931 to Robert Taylor and Edna Pearl (Summeril) Heacock in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After graduation from Upper Darby High School, he earned a community college associates degree prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served in Huntsville, AL, at the predecessor of NASA.

After his time in the service, Bob returned to Pennsylvania and earned his B.S. at Drexel Institute.
He joined RCA and worked as an electrical engineer for 15 years.

In 1970, Bob moved to Birmingham and joined the faculty at UAB as the founder of the Bio-Medical Equipment Department.
While developing the curriculum and leading the department, Bob also earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at UAB.
After retiring with 30 years of service with UAB, he started a small business that repaired bio-medical equipment at many hospitals and medical facilities in the Birmingham area.

Bob served two tours of duty as the Commanding Officer of the Alabama Heart of Dixie Squadron.
His squadron members wish him Fair Skies and Happy Landings.
On June 19, 1974 Bob married Dr. Marian Ruth Vaughn, who preceded him in death on April 13, 2012.
Bob is survived by many family members and friends including: Charles Novak of Rockford, MI; Gary Pritchard of Rockford, MI; Marilyn Novak of Charlevoix, MI; Nancy and Frank Letherby of Grand Rapids, MI; Jeanette Novak of Damascus, MD; and Anita Denard of Calera, AL

. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UAB Educational Scholarship Foundation or a charity of your choice.

MARIAN RUTH VAUGHN, PhD Marian Ruth Vaughn Heacock, PhD., 82, of Mountain Brook Alabama, passed peacefully on April 13, 2012.

Dr. Heacock was born August 6, 1929 to Harper B. and Adele R. Burroughs Vaughan in Birmingham, AL.

After graduating from Phillips High School, she earned her B.A. from Vanderbilt University, her M.A. from the University of Michigan and then her PhD. from the University of Alabama in the field of economics.

After several years on the faculty at UA, she was asked to be part of a seven member faculty team to go to Birmingham to create the School of Business at UAB.

She served as chairperson of the Department of Economics.

During her long career at UAB, she served two terms as president of the faculty senate and went onto be the UAB faculty representative to the University Board of Trustees.

She retired after thirty four years of service with the rank of Full Professor Emerita.

Dr. Heacock was very proud to provide her leadership to the United States Naval Aviation, having served two tours of duty as Commanding Officer of the Alabama Heart of Dixie Squadron.

Her squadron members wish her Fair Skies and Happy Landings.

Dr. Heacock was married to Professor Robert J. Heacock who survives her.

Also surviving her are family members: Charles Novak and Gary Pritchard of Rockford, Michigan, Marilyn Novak of Charlevoix, MI, Nancy and Frank Letherby of Grand Rapids, MI, Jeanette Novak of Damascus, MD and Craig Vaughan of Columbia TN.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday April 18, 2012 at St Luke's Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook.
