Surnames: CAPRON, JENNINGS, ELY
Ellen Capron was born 1818 in Dutchess County, New York. The year comes from her headstone and her place of birth comes from the 1855 NY State Census, Ulster Co., Kingston.

Ellen married John Freeman Jennings, son of John Jennings and Aurelia Bard who settled in Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, NY, from Connecticut. John Freeman Jennings was a very successful merchant, living first in Rhinebeck through c.1852 and then relocating across the Hudson River in Kingston, Ulster County, NY, where he died about 1865.

After John F.'s death, Ellen and her children relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where she lived at least through 1881. I lose track of her after that and have not located her in the 1900 census.

Ellen and John F. Jennings had four children: (1) Augustus F. Jennings, a physician who practiced in Detroit, Michigan and who died in St. Joseph, Missouri 1892; (2) William Bard Capron Jennings, listed in the Yale University catalog, Class of 1868, who died in Detroit in 1881; Edmund C. Jennings, a merchant and artist last known in St. Louis, Missouri, 1910; and a daughter Ella who married George Mather Ely and made her home in Binghamton, Broome County, NY, dying there in 1934.

Ellen Capron Jennings died in 1905 and is buried in Floral Park Cemetery, Broome County, NY, where her daughter and grandchildren are buried.

Can anyone help finding Ellen's parents? With thanks, Suzanne
