I am searching for any info about this man's family.
What I believe to be correct is that his Parents were John MOODY and Elizabeth SHANNON and that his father was from Tandragee, Co. Armagh, Nor. Ireland. However they must have moved to the Newry, Co. Down area.
Can anyone tell me if this family connects to the John MOODY family of Co. Londonderry, Nor. Ireland, the John Moody who owned the bleach green and whose first wife's name I don't know but his 2nd wife was the widow of a KENNEDY but her maiden name was Parkinson or Perkinson or something like that.
Bleach green John, and his 1st wife had a son William MOODY who came to Pittsburgh, PA c1816 and was quite successful. Bleach green John and his 2nd wife Mrs. Kennedy had a son Robert MOODY who came to Pittsburgh, PA with his 1/2 brother Wm. and he died sometime in his mid 20's of age.
The Possible common link here is the marriages between the KENNEDY's. Rev. James MOODY of Newry, Co. Down, Ire. married Frances KENNEDY daughter of Rev. Gilbert KENNEDY and Elizabeth LAING (Lang).
There are several other similarities between these families but I have never been able to claim with any certainty that these two families were connected.
Our Ydna Moody (prob. orig. spelled MOODIE as it is believed they came over from Scotland in the 1600's to Nor. Ireland, we do Not share any ydna with the Moody families of England), family was from the Co. L'derry area before they came to America (Pennsylvania) around c1735. Apologies for the vague info regarding "bleach green John Moody" but I really don't have a lot more about him except that his sons William and Robert Moody came to America c1816 when they were in their early 20's.
