Can anyone help please with the marriage of William Hedges to Mahala (surname unknown).

According to census William was born in Hertfordshire c1821 and Mahala (sometimes transcribed as Matilda) c1822 in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

I have found five children of the marriage, the eldest (William Jonathan Hedges) born 1844 in Lambeth.

I have been stuck on this for ages and any help at all would be appreciated as I am stuck on both William's and Mahala's lines.
