YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Mr. Charles W. “Tut” Tutwiler, 66, who departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Mr. Tutwiler was born Dec. 6, 1944, in Chambers, Mississippi, a son of Johnnie and Annie Shaw Tutwiler.
He was affiliated with the New Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the NAACP. He had been employed with Levinson Tire Company and the former Woodside Receiving Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Charles loved carpentry both interior and exterior and enjoyed yard work.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his beloved wife, the former Loretta Johnson, whom he married June 27, 1973; four daughters, Chalonda Tutwiler and Lawanda Mims of Youngstown, Ohio, Gloria J. Harris of Columbus, Ohio and Tawana Lewis of Florida; three sisters, Evangelist Betty (William) Taylor of Youngstown, Josie Oates of Detroit and Bertha Steadman of Los Angeles; a brother, Eddie (Evelyn) Tutwiler Sr. of Youngstown; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; man’s best friends, his dog , Shaka; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Maybell Miles, Louise Tutwiler, Helene Edward and Emma Rice; and seven brothers, Robert, David, Luclid, Louis, Clarence, Johnnie and Joe.
