Hi.
I'm having trouble locating death information about this descendant of mine.
He's from St Just in Roseland, Cornwall
Birth abt 1780 in Cornwall, England
Married 1804 Elizabeth Warren
I found a record in the England, Select Deaths and Burials catalogue of a Nathaniel Hooker death in 1870, however if I match it with the death index it states that this person was aged 48, when in-fact, my Nathaniel Hooker would have been 90 in 1870.
A lot of his family members emigrated to New Zealand on the Timandra in 1841, so I thought perhaps he was among them.
On the internet I've come across passenger lists of the Timandra, and it does state there was a Nathaniel Hooker, but, my problem is, is that Nathaniel's son, John Hooker who was on the ship, had a son named Nathaniel Hooker, he would have been 11 years old. But the lists I find say that there was 'John Hooker & Family', and then a 'Nathaniel Hooker'. I would have assumed, John's 11 year old son would have fallen under the family part of John's record, rather than have a separate reference. So, that's why I'm wondering whether Nathaniel Hooker (Snr) emigrated.
But then, with this in mind, I can't find any death records in New Zealand either. So it's unlikely he emigrated.
So, I'm a bit of predicament. I can't find any census records for him in the UK either, so perhaps he died somewhere inbetween 1804 (when he was married) and 1841.
Would love some advice on where I can continue my research, I'm a bit stumped.
Many thanks in advance.
