My mother was always told that she was related in some way to JMW Turner the painter. This could only be on her mother's side. My great great grandfather was Thomas Manning born about 1818 in Crediton Devon; he married a Susan Sarah James (born about 1823). the 1841 census has them living in St Stephen Devon. I guess the connection (if there is one) is through one or the other of them. I read that William Turner (JMW;s father) had 4 brothers & 2 sisters. Does anyone have any information on these siblings and whom they may have married?
