My babcia, Apolonia Magalas, born about 1894 in or near Ternopol or Zbarazh, which was at that time within Poland but is now Ukraine, married my dziadzio, Jacob Winnicki about 1910. I believe they emigrated to Beasejour, Manitoba, Canada the next year.
All of Babcia's siblings exept the oldest sister, who married a man with the surname of Sowa, emigrated to Canada.
My mother and I are planning a trip to Eastern Europe this year to do some genealogical research and to (hopefully) track down descendants of Babcia's older sister. My mother married a man named Czura (Chura) and his family came from a nearby town named Olleschstra (spelling is probably wrong). Would love to hear from anybody that might know these families in the old country.
