One of my ancestors was called Anthony Halliday (or Holliday) and it appears that he was stabbed to death at the Ram Inn public house in Woodchester (near to Stroud) on 14th September 1835 by a David Bishop who was subsequently transported to Australia as a punishment.
Despite what would have been quite a serious event - especially in a rural area, I can't find any additional information about this, apart from several, fairly vague, newspaper articles.
Does anyone know anything about this incident or where I could find out more information about it?
Many thanks
James Halliday
