My gggfather David Cummings was a tavern keeper in Branch County MI, just north of LaGrange Co., and was recorded in the County history there in 1837, but appears to have been in the LaGrange County census in 1840, along with two men I believe were his brothers, Major Cummin(g)s and William Cummings. I think perhaps they were running the Cummings store. By 1850 and 1860, the David Cummings family, minus a couple who went to California (my ggfather William Major Cummings included) were back in Branch County MI.

I'm looking for Cummings descendants who stayed home in Indiana or Michigan, and any information that may be available about the Cummings store and its storekeepers.
