John Hall called Squire Hall in early Burke Co, NC records, was probably born before 1750 maybe in PA, MD or VA? The 1800 Burke census indicated his birth as before 1755.
His 1st wife is unknown at this time. Court records in Jul 1804 indicate Fenwell Shanks, widow of James Shanks, now Fenwell Hall wife of John Hall.
John Hall's Burke Co., will probated in Jan 1812 only names Jesse and Fenwell Hall. John's York Co, SC will dated 17 Nov 1808, probated 2 Feb 1816, names wife Fenwell; daus.: Sally, Elizabeth, Tempy, Polly, Diana Hicks (dec'd) and Rebecca; sons: John, Elijah, Jesse, David, Joshua, and grandchildren: Jesse and Polly, children of David, dec'd.
I believe John was a son of William Hall and Margaret Collier because John Hall was appointed administrator of the estate of William Hall in Rowan Co, NC. Also, John Hall was granted land in Rowan Co, NC surveyed for William Hall. The book "Carolina Cradle" says William Hall removed to Carolina before 1753 probably from Chester Co, PA gives reference to Chester Co, PA and Rowan Co, NC records. William Hall was on the 1759 Rowan Co. tax list. Rowan Co. deeds indicate William Hall and wife Margaret.
Augusta Co, VA records indicate William Hall with wife Margaret, John Hall and John Colier/Collyer, William's brother in law.
Some areas of early Augusta Co, VA are today in PA and MD.
