A couple lived in Greene Co., PA between 1840 and 1880. They were Thomas and Margaret Barnhart. Many trees on ancestry.com state that Margaret's maiden name was Gray. I have contacted many of owners of these trees about this and all who have responded admit that they have no proof of this. I am creating this post in the hopes that someone out there in Ancestryland has some kind of direct or circumstantial evidence that proves she was a Gray. Unlike most, I refuse to accept allegation without some evidence and after 38 years of research, I have not seen it.
The same issue applies to the trees who claim knowledge of the parents of Thomas.
This all gets quite frustrating when some much speculation is taken as fact and those who speculate cannot support their statements.
As a result, I'm pleading with those interested in Thomas Barnhart and the Barnhart family in Greene County to please begin a discuss regarding this so that we can either agree that there does exist evidence regarding Margaret's maiden name and Thomas' parents or there does not.
I am anxious to participate to see where this can go.
Thanks!
