My gg grandfather was Columbus "Lynell" Johnson, born in 1857, Wilkes Co. He resided and died in Lansing, Ashe Co. and was married to Cynthia Brooks-Miller. His death certificate in 1926 says his mother was Polly Johnson and his father was listed as "unknown". I'm guessing she could have been born in the 1830s. She also could have had the name Mary, as Polly and Mary seemed to have been substituted for one another in the 1800s. His death certificate information was given by a J.A. Johnson. Does anyone have a Mary or Polly Johnson that could have had a son in 1857? She may have even married later and used a different last name. I have been stuck on this for quite some time. Any help would be appreciated!!
