I am trying to locate an obituary and a place of burial for Michael VAN DER COOK, born 12 September, 1781 in Schagticoke, Rensselaer Co., NY to Isaac and Sarah (TEACHOUT) VanDerCook and died 21 July, 1872 Manchester, Washtenaw Co., MI. He was noted for having reached the advanced age of 90 years. Michael married 1. Serviah LAWRENCE 22 February, 1798 in NY. She died 22 February, 1828, probably in NY. Michael then married 2. Mary "Polly" WILLARD either in September of 1832 (family bible) or on 3 September, 1834 (Monroe Co. Marriage Records, page 80, E.4). Michael and Serviah had ten children between 1802 and 1824, all born in NY. Michael, the majority of his children and his widowed father Isaac VanDerCook (a Revolutionary War veteran of the 14th Albany Co. Militia) appear have emigrated to Monroe Co., Michigan in the early 1830s. I have a great deal of information to share on the descendants of this Michael VanDerCook's grandparents, Michael and Cornelia (VAN NESS) VanDerCook of Morris Co., NJ and Schagticoke/Cooksborough, Upper Albany (now Rensselaer) Co., NY.
