Next June, 2004, will be the centennial anniversary of the General Slocum Steamboat disaster. I have been in touch with the group that holds a memorial each year in Tompkin's Square Park, and they are planning a trip to North Brother Island in conjunction with their usual service at the Children's monument in Tompkins Square Park. Does anyone yet know if the group in Queens has scheduled anything special, or are they just doing a church service and wreath laying at the cemetery as always?
If anyone wishes to be informed concerning the Tompkins Sauare activities, let me know and I will keep you posted.
