Should there be a difference in matching segments when comparing Ancestry DNA results to Family Finder DNA results on Gedmatch's one-to-one comparison tool?
I have tested myself and my mom at Ancestry DNA and have uploaded both of our kits to Gedmatch. I have tested my dad at Ancestry DNA and separately at FTNDA and have uploaded the data from both of his kits to Gedmatch.
When I compare my Ancestry data to my parents' Ancestry data, the results are as expected (50%/50%). However, when I compare my Ancestry data to my dad's Family Finder data, he is only a 25% match, rather than 50%. Out of curiosity, I then compared my dad's Ancestry data to his Family Finder data, and he isn't a perfect match to himself! Have I done something wrong here or is this to be expected when comparing Ancestry raw data to Family Finder raw data on Gedmatch?
The one-to-one Gedmatch comparisons I'm referencing are as follows:
My Ancestry kit compared to my mom's Ancestry kit:
Largest segment = 281.5 cM
Total of segments > 3 cM = 3,587.0 cM
Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 1.0
My Ancestry kit compared to my dad's Ancestry kit:
Largest segment = 281.5 cM
Total of segments > 3 cM = 3,587.1 cM
Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 1.0
My Ancestry kit compared to my dad's FTNDA Family Finder kit:
Largest segment = 23.0 cM
Total of segments > 3 cM = 1,789.9 cM
Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 1.5
My dad's Ancestry kit compared to his FTDNA Family Finder kit:
Largest segment = 281.5 cM
Total of segments > 3 cM = 3,587.1 cM
Estimated number of generations to MRCA = 1.0
