Am searching for records regarding Joseph Colquhoun born about 1837 Scotland or Ireland. In Census his birthplace flips between Ireland and Scotland, yet wife and children, address are constant. His wife was Elizabeth Renfrew and they married about 1864 in Maybole.

Unable to find any documentation prior to 1851 on this gent.

Can anyone shed some light on the Irish-Scottish? I feel earlier records would show that this branch of the family originates in Scotland and went to Ireland perhaps for land.

I am stuck. Hoping someone has some ideas on where to look.
