LENA CARLISLE was born September 18, 1880 in Chipley, Washington County, FL, and died August 13, 1963 in Milton, Santa Rosa County, FL. She married WILLIE BRODEN MAY July 19, 1910 in Escambia Co., FL, son of JOHN MAY and ROXIE FLUELLEN.

Oral history on LENA CARLISLE:
Born out of wedlock to a Priscilla Carlisle. Raised by the Gilberts, in Vernon, FL, but probably not adopted. Left home when she was 18 with a boat captain to go to Pensacola. 10 years lost after she left home before she married Willie B. May.

Golias is a sir name associated with her, but it is not certain why. Perhaps this is the name of the boat captain.
