YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio –Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the New Hope Baptist Church for Mr. Rosevelt Raine, 67, whom the Lord called home on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Raine was born July 6, 1944, in Bladon Springs, Alabama, a son of Theodore and Lillie Turner Raine.
Rosevelt came to Youngstown, Ohio when he was two years old under the care of his sister and brother-in-law, Melba and James Bryant, who raised him as their own.
He was a 1963 graduate of South High School. He worked for LTV Steel, where he went to school for an apprenticeship machinist. A devoted member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Rosevelt served on the Trustee Board and sang in the gospel chorus.
He also completed a Grievance Administrartion Course from Ohio State University.
He enjoyed playing chess, reading, and working on cars.
On July 31, 1965, Rosevelt married the former Delores Ann Henderson and to this union four children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Delores; four children, Rodney (Vanetta) Raine of Duncanville, Texas, Reginald (Beth) Raine of Allen, Texas, Ronald Raine of Warren, Ohio and Trinette Raine of Lancaster, Texas; two sisters, Melba Bryant of Youngstown and Lucy Bryant, better known as Terrie, who was raised with him; a goddaughter, LaKisha Jackson Gilmore of New York; 12 grandchildren; one-great grandchild; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Theodore and Willie L Raine; three sisters, Dora Dodds, Minnie Finley and Virginia Gray; and a nephew, Willie F. Bryant, who was like a brother.
Friends may call Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
