Corrupt census image sets, and my fruitless quest to get somebody to fix them

Hi. I just now discovered that these forums existed, and am excited that there might be someone out there to listen (even if only other disgruntled users). I have been bugging Ancestry.com support for about two years about an issue of corrupt and unviewable census images. I have been filing a support request every couple of months, only to be repeatedly brushed off with assurances that someone would look into it, and have no one look into it, and no one ever pass my request on to someone who might actually look into it.

The issue is with the 1850 census for my home county, Morgan County, Alabama, but it also extends to an unknown number of other counties, several of which I have run across in research. For example:

1850 U.S. Census, Morgan County, Alabama, page 204b

A few years ago, the images were fine. Then, when Ancestry.com "upgraded" to higher resolution census images for the whole U.S., the images for these counties became somehow corrupt and unviewable for any practical purposes. It appears to be an image compression problem with the files themselves, I believe perhaps from a common source from which Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org might draw their images -- since FamilySearch.org's images for the same censuses and counties are also corrupt:

This needs to be fixed. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this problem, but it needs to be brought to the attention of someone higher up than a customer service grunt.
