Surnames: Taylor, Newburn, Meeker
I am looking for additional information on my line of Taylor's. The first one I know of in Citronelle was John W. Taylor born somewhere around 1813. He married Louisa Meeker( b.1825 in citronelle) The only child I know from this union is Wilson Holland Taylor b. june 7 1848. He was supposed to have fought in the civil war. Does anyone know how I can get records for confederate soldiers? He married first, Mary E. Euholm Sept. 3 1871, but she must have died early because he remarries in 1874 to Sarah Ann Newburn. They had two children that I have records of- Allen Griffin b. june 10 1881 and Grover Cleveland b. 1885. The story handed down in the family is that Wilson Holland had to leave Citronelle with his wife and kids because he killed an 18 year old boy by cutting him into pieces. I don't know how much truth is there, but he came to Mississippi between 1885 and 1904. He ran a sawmill in Pearl River county and died in 1916. He is buried at the Penton Cemetery which is located on private grounds in Pearl River Co. Ms. Family legend has John W. father as being George Owen Taylor, from Connecticut(?) but I have been unable to find anything on him. If anyone has additional informatoin I would be soo grateful. I have additional info on Grover Cleveland and Allen Griffin's decendants. My husband is Allen Griffin's great grandson.
Thanks for any help.
