LEXINGTON - Eunice Parker Means, 85, of Austin, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 in the Christopher House in Austin. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at First Baptist Church in Lexington with Dr. Vernon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.

Mrs. Means was born June 7, 1922 in Lexington to Isaac William and Naomi (Hester) Parker.

She married W. Scott Means on Oct. 3, 1965.

She served as an Associate in the Division of Student Work of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, she became the librarian and secretary to the President of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Zurich, Switzerland.

In 1952 she became a Campus Minister at the University of Texas in Austin, serving as Director of the Baptist Student Union from 1952 to 1955, and Coordinator of International Student Ministries for Texas Baptist from 1955 to 1965.

Mrs. Means was a graduate of Texas State College for Women in Denton. She received her Master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 25, 2001; parents; two sisters, Naomi Elizabeth Parker and Lois Jeanette Rowland Lunsford.

Survivors include four step-grandchildren, cousins and many friends.
