Charles Henry “Frank” Miskulin a long-time resident of Carson City, passed away peacefully Monday, March 15, 2010, after struggling with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Lovelock, Nev., November 1, 1922, to Nicola and Kata Miskulin, who had immigrated from Croatia. He was the fourth of seven children.
He spent most of his younger years in Reipetown in Eastern Nevada. He graduated from White Pine High School in Ely in 1940. In the midst of WWII he was accepted to the Army Air Corps flight school. Upon completion of flight school he was stationed in Northern Africa and Southern Italy with the 1st Fighter Group. He flew combat missions over Europe as a P-38 pilot. Once discharged from active duty he returned to the Western U.S. and worked primarily as a mine surveyor and also worked for Consolidated Copper Mines in Ely until 1955. In 1958 he began working for NDOT and then retired from NDOT in 1985.
In 1949 he married Elaine Venturino.He spent many years caring for Elaine, his beloved wife of nearly 60 years whom he lost in June of 2009. He spoke highly of all his family and friends, they were a true blessing to him. He was active all of his life and will be deeply missed.
