One of my sources indicates William LAWS, Sr., was a resident of Halifax Co. VA prior to removing to Wilkes Co. NC in 1779. His son-in-law is listed as Peter BOWMAN in William's 1780 will, who married 1: Elsa LAWS and 2: Elizabeth WILSON (this last one is conjecture).

William, Sr.'s son was also named William (often found as William Welcome or Welcome William LAWS). He married Amelia (Milly) LOW.

William Sr.'s daughters are Annay Laws DYER, Mary Laws CROSS, Ann Laws LOVELACE, Patty Laws ADAMS and Abigail (Abbey) Laws HAMPTON (married to 1: Thomas HAMPTON and 2: John CROUCH).

I am aware of a William LAWS who resided in Accomac Co. VA in the early days and believe he is related to the William above--or is the same person.
